Kari Day, MS,NCC,LPC,RPT™
Kari is the owner of New Day Counseling & Play Therapy, LLC and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Registered Play Therapist™ (RPT™). She has worked in the field of mental health and social services for 17 years, and has been a LPC for 11 years.
Kari holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Community Health from the University of Hawaii and a Master’s of Science in Counseling Psychology from Chaminade University of Honolulu. She was born and raised in Lander, and returned 11 years ago to serve her community.
Kari has experience as both a therapeutic and school counselor. Her education and years of experience provide a wide skill set in working with ages across the lifespan. Kari’s approach is supportive, meeting each individual where they are at, taking an integrative approach. She is passionate about using play based and expressive art techniques, as well as EMDR.
Rian Piccin Sanchez, M.Ed., PPC
Rian Piccin Sanchez is a Provisional Professional Counselor at New Day Counseling & Play Therapy, LLC. She brings a diverse background in education and mental health, with professional experience in school counseling, teaching, and working extensively with young people and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
Rian holds a Master of Education degree with an emphasis in School Counseling from Montana State University-Bozeman. She is currently working under the direct supervision of Kari Day, LPC, RPT™, as she gains clinical experience and hours toward full licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
Born and raised in the Big Sky State of Montana, Rian has called Lander home since 2016. She has special interests in narrative and play therapy and will be actively working to develop her skills in each of these modalities as she continues her clinical training. Rian is grateful for the opportunity to work with the team at New Day Counseling & Play Therapy and to serve the Lander community.
Jamie Bernard, MS, Certified Mental Health Worker
Jamie is a Certified Mental Health Worker. She utilizes evidence based therapeutic approaches to help students navigate their challenges. As a Certified Mental Health Worker, Jamie does not act as the primary provider or diagnose, and is under the direct supervision of Kari Day, LPC, RPT™.
Jamie has been an educator for the past 23 years and brings extensive knowledge and experiences. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education (Pre-K-12th grade) and in Elementary Education, as well as a Master's of Science in Mental Health and Wellness. She also earned her National Board Certification in Early Childhood Generalist, and is a Certified Mental Health Worker.
